This coming Saturday, 16th May 2026, sees Hollywood Lakes take on Royal Dublin in the 2nd Round of the All Ireland Barton Shield.
Inaugurated in 1911, the Barton Shield is one of Golf Ireland’s most prestigious competitions and comprises four of each Clubs best and most talented players competing in two Foursomes Matchplay games playing off scratch with the aggregate of holes won and lost to decide the winner. Hollywood Lakes have home advantage and both Foursomes will take place in Hollywood Lakes teeing off at 3.00 pm. The standard of golf in the Barton Shield is among the highest that can be seen in Inter Club golf and Manager Gavin Smith and his team are eager and ready to do battle with their Royal Dublin opponents in what is expected to be a very competitive match on Saturday next. The team would welcome as much support that they can get and we are asking Club members who are free on Saturday afternoon to come along to provide this support and hopefully help propel the team to victory on this occasion.
Then, on Sunday 17th May, Hollywood Lakes Uden Cup and Best Cup teams play the next round in their respective Fourball Matchplay competitions. In the Uden Cup, we play the Island G.C. with 2 games at home and 3 games away, while our Best Cup team play Malahide G.C. this time with 3 games at home and 2 away.
